ENGIE Ride 2017

ENGIE Ride, our annual sponsored cycling event, returned this year between Tues 11th – Thurs 13th July.

A team of 25 cyclists from ENGIE were joined by some of our key suppliers to complete 230 miles of cycling between Edinburgh and Manchester over three days, all in aid of the ENGIE Chosen Charities – Macmillan, Mind and The Prince’s Trust.

Setting off from one of our flagship client sites - Royal Infirmary Edinburgh - the route took our cyclists through rural Scotland on day 1 and into Cumbria, through Penrith and onto the Lakes climbing Kirkstone Pass on the way on day 2.  The final day’s route set off from Kendal, through the Forest of Bowland before finishing at another of our key client sites, MediaCity in Manchester.

Through the day at MediaCity a simultaneous event had been taking place on the final day to raise funds for a colleague from the MediaCity contracts who was involved in an awful motorcycling accident nearly a year ago and is currently undergoing rehabilitation.  With exercise bikes generously donated from the local Virgin Active Gym a team of ENGIE staff from the site rode an incredible 530km in one day!

ENGIE Ride 2017 was supported by our headline sponsors and key suppliers WP Group, Finning UK, CPC Civils & SUEZ with further sponsorship from Edmundsons, Ricoh, Bunzl Cleaning & Hygiene, PHS Group, Swift Industrial Supplies, St Gobain Glassolutions & YESSS Electrical.  We are hugely grateful to all of our suppliers whose support means ENGIE Ride 2017 raised over £25k for the ENGIE Chosen Charities.

Huge thanks also go to our clients at Royal Infirmary Edinburgh and in particular at MediaCity for their support with the event.

ENGIE is committed to supporting our people and the communities we serve, read more about how we are working towards a more sustainable future in OurFuture Plan.
