ENGIE ranked no.1 for sustainability performance in FM sector
ENGIE has been announced as the overall winner of the Sustainable FM Index (SFMI) 2016, following rigorous comparison of its sustainability performance against 25 other UK Facilities Management (FM) providers.
The SFMI is a benchmarking exercise designed to provide robust and transparent assessment of sustainability performance within the UK FM market. The scheme is administered by consultancy Acclaro Advisory.
ENGIE scored higher than all other companies in the top quartile including Bouygues Energies & Services, Carillion, EMCOR, Skanska Facilities and Vinci Facilities.
Acclaro Managing Director Sunil Shah explained: “ENGIE has made concerted efforts in 2016 to raise its performance against the SFMI framework. Strong accountability and clear leadership mechanisms are at the foundation of ENGIE’s success.”
The ranking follows the full implementation of ENGIE’s ‘OurFuture’ Corporate Responsibility Plan which is a commitment by the business to create a positive, lasting environmental, economic and social legacy. This plan has been adopted throughout all parts of ENGIE’s UK energy and services business.
Wilfrid Petrie, CEO of ENGIE UK & Ireland added: “For ENGIE, 2016 marks a new phase in our environmental and societal ambitions, as reflected in a number of new non-financial performance objectives for 2020 including the increase of renewable energy in our production mix, a reduction of CO2 emissions and a commitment to stakeholder engagement. This recognition within the FM sector follows ENGIE being named as the no.1 utility in ‘Multi and Water Utilities’ sector of the World Dow Jones Sustainability Index earlier this year. Our strong commitment to sustainability is evidenced not just within our company but also in using our expertise to help customers meet their own sustainability aspirations. We are delighted that this commitment has been recognized in the SFMI, and fully intend to drive our performance even further in the years to come.”
